The average college loan debt increases every year and now congress is stepping in to help.
There are several programs available to help reduce interest rates and make paying back the loans more feasible.
Starting in July, a federal program will be available to forgive student loan debt after 10 years of making payments if you work in the public sector and after 25 years if you work in the private sector.
"They've recently come up with a program if you have education credentials or public servant then your loans can be forgiven," says Alex McMahan of Troy University Financial Aid.
